Edge’s choices are unusually disciplined here. The memorable part is not simply a guitar sound; it is how the instrument creates motion around Bono’s phrasing without filling every gap.

The arrangement is the argument for me. On How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, “A Man and a Woman” leaves enough space for the rhythm section and guitar texture to pull in different directions without losing the song.

I keep coming back to the writing. “A Man and a Woman” works because the emotional idea is direct, while the performance leaves some ambiguity around it. That balance is a very U2 strength.

Context matters here. Heard inside How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, this feels more purposeful than it can on a shuffled playlist. The surrounding material changes the weight of the song.

My rating is close to the community’s 6.7. I admire the ambition, although I think the studio production occasionally competes with the core melody.
