Context matters here. Heard inside Singles, B-Sides & Rarities, this feels more purposeful than it can on a shuffled playlist. The surrounding material changes the weight of the song.

The live question is complicated. A bigger arrangement can create momentum, while the studio version preserves details that disappear in an arena. I would keep both in the argument.

I’m slightly less persuaded. The production is characterful, but I sometimes hear the sound of Singles, B-Sides & Rarities more clearly than the identity of this individual song.

My rating is close to the community’s 7.8. I admire the ambition, although I think the studio production occasionally competes with the core melody.

The most interesting comparison is studio versus live. “Window in the Skies” has an arrangement sturdy enough to be reshaped, but the original recording still defines its atmosphere for me.

A song can be important without being a personal favourite. “Window in the Skies” is a good test case: craft, historical place and the urge to replay it are three different questions.

Edge’s choices are unusually disciplined here. The memorable part is not simply a guitar sound; it is how the instrument creates motion around Bono’s phrasing without filling every gap.

The arrangement is the argument for me. On Singles, B-Sides & Rarities, “Window in the Skies” leaves enough space for the rhythm section and guitar texture to pull in different directions without losing the song.
