A first concert, a half-lost voice, and the quiet moment that made a stadium feel like a small room.
I had rehearsed the obvious moments in my head: the lights, the opening roar, the songs everyone knows. I was not prepared for the hush before “Stay.”
By the final chorus the people around me were singing softly instead of shouting. I remember a stranger passing me water and both of us laughing because neither of us could speak afterward.
