U2 v Muse this century.

U2 are still the daddy as they had 20 years before 2000.

Be surprised if Muse last another 20 years. However they have lasted nearly 30.

One of the reasons Bono praised Muse in 2006 was because he thought they had a lot more to offer. They were not going to self destruct like Oasis & GnR or leave the mainstream too much like Radiohead. Or become treadmill like Coldplay. Bono was right.

One thing U2 could have done to beat Muse down is release another JT. Which I predicted after the EP's.

However with SOD & Fireflies it seems they have gone all lightweight Coldplay.

A pity as I liked TJT.

Musically U2 & Muse have not been compared much.

'Big Freeze' & 'Verona' got U2 comparisons. Not a problem to me. I like U2 & both songs.

Exo Politics is the rockiest song on Black Holes. U2 would have loved that on Bomb.

Bomb did have a big bullet proof lead song. Together with a strong follow up. Muse would have been looking for that iwith Absolution.

However Absolution does have 14 songs and no cringe moments. Bomb has Yahwah.

Either way both bands like each other. Similar with U2 & Oasis.

Oasis challenged U2 between 93-97.

U2 have released greatest hits albums. Can understand the 90-2000 CD. But not the other one.

Muse have not had any hits this century. The singles charts has long gone. They could have released an album of there most popular songs. Maybe have an internet fan vote.

I read Muse were approached about a Greatest Hits album. They released WOTP instead which aimed to cover all there previous inventions.

Muse said themselves people make up there own playlists these days. So a greatest hits album is a bit pointless.

For me Days of Ash/Easter Lilly is a baby JT. So I can't put The Wow Signal ahead of that although like it.

Was not disappointed with Simulation Theory & WOTP.

SOE was middle of the road. Understood the idea of SOS & liked 3 promo's. Was a bit of a mess but you can find good parts.

Have a soft spot for ATYCLB. It put U2 back on top. But will have to go some to beat Origin even if Ground is added to ATYCLB.

Bomb & Absolution each have 4 or 5 top songs. The rest not offensive. Except for Yahwah.

For me there are some tough calls in the album V album. 

2006 & 2012 Muse had no competition. Releasing two big albums. U2's stand alone songs are not enough to negate that.

Both Drones and SOI had peaks but also cringe moments. SOI is more consistent.

The Resistance and NLOTH were considered experimental. Both had peaks and cringe moments.
